This paper briefly describes action research in the context of the discipline of OHS as it is practised in Australia. It questions the appropriateness and efficacy of positivist research methods for the majority of OHS practitioners, and argues that action research is an alternative methodology that has much to offer OHS partitioners and their organisations.
