Abstract:
A result of a study in workplace violence among women, in particular female nurses. It analyses female abuse from an ethnomethodological perspective and reveals that in a hostile, unsafe, and unhealthy work environment that anyone can be targeted by the bully. Discusses the contextual aspects of violence by introducing violence in society as a lead into the examination of violence in organisations and in nursing; Presents the results of the analyses of the female nurses narratives of their experience; Examines how individuals know that they are being targeted and how they process this knowledge before progressing to the next phase of surviving workplace violence; and Concludes this study with suggestions for further research and discussion of potential professional implications of workplace violence.
