Abstract:
This report contains the reflections of six companies' experiences of work-related death. It identifies many barriers to healthy grieving in work places, such as the adversarial legal system, the threat of economic loss due to court proceedings and adverse publicity, the fear of grief and emotional distress, the impact of trauma and being ill-equipped to deal with it at the personal and corporate levels. The report brings out the experience of social isolation over a long period of time. Contains many reflections and recommendations on renewing commitment to occupational health and safety after a work-related incident.
