Abstract:
To achieve equality in WHS the differences between women and men and the differences in their work circumstances must be recognised and taken into account. This gender-sensitive approach to OSH needs to be taken at all levels: from policy development down to workplace measures.  Taking a gender-sensitive approach to WHS ranges from providing women with safety gear designed to fit them, and not just giving them smaller-sized men’s clothing and footwear, to comprehensively mainstreaming gender across the whole strategy and work of labour inspection.  This report provides practice examples of what can be done to mainstream gender into WHS.
