This project aimed to reduce the number of injuries and life threatening incidents involving power, gas, petroleum and sewage underground networks through promotion of the Dig Safe program. This included promotion of the new GIS and cadastre data capability, 24/7 internet convenience to building and civil construction and other industry requests for plans relative to Dial Before You Dig members' underground plant anywhere in SA. The objectives were: - Increased education directed at excavators to use the Free Dial Before You Dig referral service on all occasions - Promotion directed towards excavators to utilise the 24/7 convenience and increased GIS accuracy of the internet to lodge plan requests. This has been a successful grant project benefiting the original target group broadly. There has been an increased awareness of OHS by the target audience and recognition by those responsible for the infrastructure that the OHS approach has made a significant difference. Statistical evidence of improvements has ensured that OHS will continue to be a driver of the initiative over the next few years at least.
