Abstract:
This alert surveys existing literature and research on the subject, such as demographics, mature age workforce participation, compensated fatalities, and Australian and international initiatives.
The following strategies are recommended
+ implementing workplace health and wellbeing programs to reduce the impact of risk factors
+ training management on the need for flexible work hours, improved work design, reasonable individual solutions, and positive age attitudes
+ assessment of individuals considering the ageing worker’s strengths while compensating for age related impairment
+ targeting same-level falls, whereas existing falls prevention focuses primarily on heights
+ focusing on industries where compensation claims increase with age, such as the construction, health/community services, and rural industries.
