The Commonwealth Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) legislative framework consists of the Occupational Health and Safety Act 1991 (the Act) and supporting regulations and this Code of Practice. The Act and regulations are supported by this Code of Practice - it is a source of practical guidance on safe work practices and risk management in relation to specific hazards and/or hazardous activities. It provides guidance to duty holders on standards of health and safety that must be achieved in the workplace in relation to those matters, hazards or hazardous activities.
