Abstract:
This report focuses on the Queensland Mines Inspectorate (QMI), the body responsible for mine safety regulation in Queensland. The principal objects of the investigation were to:
identify relevant practices and procedures
determine the extent to which QMI officers are complying with the practices and
procedures
determine whether the practices and procedures are adequate
identify and recommend improvements to the practices and procedures and
if applicable, formulate proposals to amend legislation to enhance mine safety regulation
