Abstract:
This report focuses on the Queensland Mines Inspectorate (QMI), the body responsible for mine safety regulation in Queensland. The principal objects of the investigation were to:
  • identify relevant practices and procedures
  • determine the extent to which QMI officers are complying with the practices and
    procedures
  • determine whether the practices and procedures are adequate
  • identify and recommend improvements to the practices and procedures and
  • if applicable, formulate proposals to amend legislation to enhance mine safety regulation
