Occupational contact dermatitis (OCD) is a skin condition caused by work-related exposures. It occurs in workers who are exposed to irritating or allergenic substances, or specific physical factors in the workplace.
The use of exposure surveillance to both raise awareness and monitor trends in exposures can be an important step in the prevention of occupational dermatitis. This study not only provides important evidence detailing the existence in Australia of a number of reversible risk factors for occupational dermatitis, but also highlights the
opportunity for effective campaigns to tackle these risk factors through education of the workforce.
