This manual is intended for asbestos laboratories and laboratory analysts, including field analysts, who examine building products, other materials (brake pads, clutch pads, furniture, etc.), and air samples for the presence of asbestos. It addresses asbestos laboratory analytical methods that use polarized light and phase contrast microscopy. It does not address transmission electron microscopy or other methodologies used to identify asbestos.
