Abstract:

The report describes the findings of a small research study to examine key factors contributing to occupational skin diseases. Skin patch testing identified exposures associated with occupational skin disease among workers who participated in this study. These workers and their employers were interviewed. The report identified four key factors contributing to the development of occupational skin disease which were lack of education, inappropriate or inadequate use of personal protective equipment, exposure to hard-to-avoid allergens like substances found in skincare products and atopy.
