Discusses heat as an occupational hazard, traditionally found in jobs in industries and in manufacturing which generate heat, in activities taking place outdoors under the radiation of the sun, such as agriculture and construction, and in those tasks implying exertion or the use of personal protective equipment. In addition, the impact of extreme heat events due to climate change, posing a new challenge to workers’ health, safety and wellbeing is also examined. Offers guidance for adapting safety policies and presses for intervention to protect those workers most at risk.
