Abstract:
SWA engaged Deloitte Access Economics to use a computable general equilibrium (CGE) model, following the World Health Organization (WHO) guidelines, to help answer the question ‘what is the economic impact of removing all work-related injury and illness for a period of time?’. This study reports on that economic modelling and is designed to simulate how the Australian economy would look if there had been no work-related injury or illness between 2008 and 2018. This presents a new approach to quantifying the economic consequences associated with work-related injuries and illnesses.
